How Much Does a Graphic Designer Charge?

Just like any other service industry, graphic designers come from different backgrounds, set with different design skills and have accumulated different experiences through time, therefore their prices vary. To make the concept easier to comprehend, think of a graphic design studio like a restaurant. Why do we pay 4$ for a burger at Lafleurs restaurant in Monteral and 5000$ at Fleur de Lys restaurant in Vegas. It all comes down to where you're eating the burger, the quality of the burger, the location, what you're getting with the burger and the reputation of the restaurant. For both the restaurants and graphic design studios, the price depends on the quality, quantity, service, location and reputation.

North American graphic designers vary in the way they charge for their services. Some charge per hour, some per project, or both depending on the client or the type of project. The hourly wage for graphic design services can range from 20$/hour for a new graduate to 300$/hour for an expert. Keep in mind in most cases cheap is expensive. Someone that just came out of school can take 80 hours to do the same job as an expert graphic designer can do in 1 hour. A graphic designer out of school can be very talented, but will not have the experience and know-how to make a design speak to it's audience like an expert would.

How do you know you're getting the best graphic designer at a fare rate? Simple, if you like the designers portfolio, the rate falls into your budget, you're getting good service and the design work is adding value to your product or service don't hesitate, get your design work done and start selling!

Your Business Cards and Letterheads Do the Talking

6/2/2014

Just imagine this: someone casually looks at your business card or letterhead. In a few seconds, that casual glance turns into curiosity… and then keen interest.

What attracts people to your company?

It’s your product and service that satisfies their need. But it could also be that your business card and letterhead with the custom envelopes are sending out an effective message.

Your professionally designed business card, letterhead and envelopes act as magnets for potential customers. They’re asking, “what company is behind this card and letter?”  “How did they manage to come up with such an eye-appealing design?”
Picture
If you want your business card and company stationery to enhance your reputation and to pull clients in, let professionals design them. Only professional graphic designers understand the essence and components of good design. They know that your cards and letterheads ARE your corporate identity.

Essence of Design

Because your cards, letterheads and custom envelopes serve as the “silent spokesperson” for your company, what design concepts need to be respected so that your clients feel they’d like to do business with a reputable company like yours?

First: Consistency. The design of your cards and other business stationery must be consistent not only with each other in terms of color, typeface and reproduction capabilities, but they must also be consistent with the image you want to project.

Second: Credibility. The confidence level of customers is an indispensable element of your corporate image. This confidence must be reinforced through your cards and letterheads. The design is said to be credible when it reflects the company’s culture and its way of doing business. Your cards and letterheads must take your already established reputation a few notches higher.

Third: Versatility. Your business card and letterheads must maintain their original design – same colors, strokes, and overall appearance – whether they’re printed on plastic, stainless steel or recycled material. The design must accommodate all print media and must not deteriorate in quality when tested on another medium.

Let’s Work Together!

Why don’t we work together to create the business cards and letterheads that will fit your corporate needs to a T?

People often ask, what does a graphic designer do?

Every graphic designer has a different set of skills. Some designers specialize in logo design, others in packaging design, marketing material, user interface design, web design and the list goes on... The one thing they all have in commune is to communicate your message visually. And only the most talented graphic designers can make your brand pop.

Whether you're selling a product or service you often need visual tools to submit and transmit information to the end client. To promote your business or product you need tools such as:
1- Logo design
2- Business card design
3- Marketing material: Catalogs, flyers, postcards advertising...
4- Packaging design

If your brand is designed accurately, it will open doors for your business and make your product or service stand out from the competition and in tern generate more revenue.

Clients often ask, HOW LONG WILL THIS PROJECT TAKE?
Graphic design is often custom work, therefore the creative timelines will vary depending on the scale of the project, content, materials and the clients deadline. To create intelligent graphic design takes a realistic amount of time. Therefore I drew up a chart that will give you an idea of the approximate amount of time each project will take.

The creative timeline allows adequate time to assign the project, clear up any additional questions, create the art, proof, order, print and ship to your location. Please note: projects cannot begin until all pertinent information for the project is sent to Impact XS Design.

Your product’s reputation is too important. Don’t tarnish that reputation because of sloppy package design and stale text.  Leave the product package design work to a professional graphic designer whose experience you can tap.  If you’re doing business in Montreal, Canada and want your product to speak eloquently of your mission statement, close attention to the packaging design phase is indispensable.

Expert Packaging Design Services in Montreal, Canada

A cosmopolitan city like Montreal has its share of glitzy marketing campaigns launched by small, medium and large advertising outfits.  They feel the pulse, they’re aware of consumers’ moods, and when it comes to product package design they accurately sniff what works and what doesn't.

Because a product's package design is a critical aspect of your business, a seasoned graphic designer should be part of your brainstorming sessions.  You know the saying - two heads are better than one.  When the task requires creativity so that a packaging design says it all, it pays to exchange ideas with a graphic designer who thinks outside the box, but has a trained eye for what goes inside the box.

Your professional packaging design team is right here in Montreal, Canada.  Why look elsewhere?

Product Package Design at its Best

Spend time to discuss your product package design services and requirements with a professional packaging graphic designer.  Only an experienced designer can clue you into styles, technology, fonts and markers.  You want minimalism?  Your graphic designer can execute that to reflect your product and service.

You want drama and splash?  Your product package graphic designer will tell you if it will work for your product or help you accomplish your marketing objectives.

Packaging design that stands out and has universal appeal is the dream of all passionate designers.  They know that the corporation’s soul is in its product; but the product’s degree of attraction lies in its “wrapper.”
Designs that dictate trends and designs that hook consumers – this is what you want your package design to reflect.  Less than that and you put your product in peril.

Grab the limelight.  Let your product package design do the talking – inside and out!

Professional Product Photography: A “Must” for any Business

2/28/2014

Your product photography is the heart and soul of your business. To sell your product effectively, you must attract the public eye.

Think about the word “showcase.” When “showing” your product, ask any professional professional product photographer what that involves. It isn't the simple act of taking your product, putting it on a shelf, taking a picture, and then sending it off to the printer’s.

Product photography is a narrow niche in commercial photography, but it can be your most persuasive weapon in marketing your business. For example, in promotional product photography, notice how a product’s angles are highlighted with the help of light, shadow and image effects. Only a professional product photographer can tell you what would be the most suitable background.

Why Hire a Professional Product Photographer?
We can mention a hundred reasons why your product has to be left in the hands of a professional product photographer, but here are the more important ones:

•    Quality and professionalism. Product photography – or commercial product photography - is not child’s play.  You can’t afford to choose the DIY (do-it-yourself) mode of showing your product to the public especially when you’re not experienced in this particular field.
•    Equipment and accessories. Professional product photographers have the right equipment and accessories to bring out the best of your product.
